The Climate Change (Net Zero Future) Act 2023 legislates the NSW Government's approach to addressing climate change. NSW Health is strongly committed to significantly reducing our emissions; with the ambition of achieveing a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030, and net zero by 2050.
Baseline carbon footprinting of our hospitals and local health districts shows that energy and transport initiatives are important, but also that decarbonising clinical care is critical. Our net zero projects show that we can maintain patient care, whilst reducing waste and emissions.
