The NSW Government priorities for mental health reform in NSW are guided by:

Living Well in Focus 2020-2024

Developed by the Mental Health Commission of NSW, the Living Well vision is that the people of NSW have the best opportunity for good mental health and wellbeing and can live well in their community on their own terms.

Three whole-of-government priorities inform the direction of mental health reform:

  • strengthening community recovery and wellbeing
  • strategically invest in community wellbeing and mental health
  • ensure the right workforce for the future.

Shifting Landscape for Suicide Prevention in NSW: A whole-of-government Strategic Framework for a whole-of-community response 2022-2027

The updated Strategic Framework for Suicide Prevention in NSW 2022-2027 provides key directions for a five-year, whole-of-government approach to support a whole-of-community response to suicide prevention across NSW.

The Framework also draws on and aligns with commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap - Target 14.

NSW Aboriginal Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2020-2025

The NSW Aboriginal Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2020-2025 supports and assists NSW Health services in delivering respectful and appropriate mental health services in partnerships with Aboriginal services, people and communities.
